Virginia Fundraising Registration Requirements
Virginia law requires that charitable organizations and institutions that solicit contributions in or from this state register with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The Virginia law governing charity registration is found in Code of Virginia 57-48 to 57-69.
To register in Virginia:
Complete the Form 102 – Registration Statement and mail to:

Initial Filing Fee: Sliding scale fee up to $425
Requirements: Governing Documents and either IRS Form 990 or Audited Financial Statement
Annual Renewal: Yes
Annual Renewal Fee: Sliding scale fee up to $325
Extension Available: Yes
Does charitable registration require Corporate Registration: No
Does charitable registration require a Registered Agent: No
Virginia offers Educational, Hospital and Religious Exemptions.
